I've been waiting for a night like this since I got my camera. A G4 Geomagnetic Storm that raged all night. No pale aurora oval, no delicate pillars. This was an all-out, in your face, lights everywhere, welcome to Alaska aurora.
At my first stop along the lakeshore of Gooseberry Falls, I was greeted by what looked like a vortex of light. I've never seen anything like this. And despite getting stuck a couple times in deep snow, I knew it was going to be a good night.
