Palisade Head Neowise on 7/11/2020 at 3:45am

Catching a naked eye comet is fairly rare, so when Comet Neowise appeared in the predawn sky near Minneapolis sporting a beautiful tail, I didn't take much thought on where to go next. After verifying the weather forecast, I left Minneapolis that night for another overnight trip to the North Shore.

Driving along Highway 61, Comet Neowise was rising in the East as I approached Palisade Head. With the gate closed, I had to huff it up the access road to reach the top. At the top was one other photographer, and the two of us spent the next 20-30 minutes shooting the rising comet.
