Airglow

The first time I captured airglow, I thought something was wrong with my camera. I later learned that airglow is a natural process. It occurs when molecules in the upper atmosphere, ionized by the sun during the day, recombine at night, emitting a faint glow.
While airglow can be visible to the naked eye, it's more easily detected by the camera. And this night it was very strong, painting the sky in green and purple.
Now that I understand what airglow is, I try to find it whenever I shoot the Milky Way. I seem to have the best luck from late May through early July, though the intensity varies from night to night.
